Replaced back plate and touch id still doesent work?

I replaced the back plate with the touch id/home button extension cable running through it on my iphone 6 after potentially damaging the old one. I no longer get the error that the touch id is not working, but it still doesn't work? When i go into the settings i can see the old fingerprint still there "fingerprint 1" but when i go to set a new fingerprint it says failed? Is the flex extension cable also chipped to the motherboard? i have tried a soft reset Holding both the home button and power buttons. Also i was thinking about doing a full restore but if i do this am i going to get an error 53? as obviously the home button flex is not original? ANy help or advice with this would be greatly appreciated

First of all, error 53 is a thing of the past. In other words, if your Touch ID button is bad or not connected or was replaced with an "unpaired button," the iPhone will succeed in restoring (or it may fail for other reasons), and you will have a working home button function (except for iPhone 7/7+) but the Touch ID function will be missing.

You may not need to restore yet. Specially a liquid damaged phone that may have other issues that will fail the test and brick the phone.

Instead you can go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings (reset, not erase). Sometimes this helps.

Or you may still have a hardware issue: the home button connector is corroded, the replacement metal plate with cable is defective (the cable, not the plate); the flat cable is not properly connected to the home button or to the board main board on top; the connector on the main board is damaged, and/or one of the surrounding resistors or filters that are part of the Touch ID circuit. Further cleaning or proper troubleshooting may be necessary to pin point the point of failure, using high magnification and a multimeter. If everything checks out, it could simply be that the home button itself is damaged.

No, the extension cable is not paired to the motherboard. Try to replace the extension cable (and backplate) one more time, i think you have recieved a bad home button extension cable and thats why you can't setup a new fingerprint.
