Engine cuts out after 5 - 10 secs but keeps running if blades engaged.
My ride on mower engine keeps cutting out after 5-10 secs (blades not engaged), but if I engage the blades in the first few seconds it keeps running. Once I've been cutting for a few minutes it will keep running with or without the blades being engaged. So frustrating because it takes me about 10 starts to get from the shed to the grass. Anyone any ideas?
Is this a good question?

Have you tried letting it run for a few minutes after starting it? Also, is the battery new, the gas filter new? Also, do you have it at a high or low speed and did you disengage the choke after starting?

It won't run for a few minutes after starting (without the blades engaged). Battery is perfect (starts first time every time). Starts with choke first time no bother and then without choke once it's been started a couple of times.

Gas filter has just been replaced as well...

What about the fuel filter? Has that been changed? It sort of sounds like its not getting enough fuel. Get some starter fluid and spray it into the air intake, have someone start it (of ir your fast enough you start it) and keep spraying it into the air intake. if it doesnt shut off after 5-10 seconds, than the fuel filter probably need replacing, if it happens again, there is some other issue.

Thanks Cameron, but if it was the fuel filter wouldn't it keep cutting out when the blades are running as well
