My DS is acting realky weirdly

Im certain its not Water damage. But only the upper screen turns flashes when i turn it on. Then it goes off in half a second! It also has a light brown tinge. Its possible its water/perfume damge or the battery is just old. The battery is being replaced but what do i do if it fails?
