While plugged to charger, will charge to 100% then stop and then drain

I have a two year old iPhone 6 and recently got the notice that the battery needed to be replaced. I had the typical battery issues of draining quickly, the percentage jumping around, and not holding a charge. I got the iFixit battery replacement, replaced it, and all was savvy but I'm still having an issue with charging the battery while connected to a charger.

What I mean is I will plug it into the charger, it will charge to 100%, then WHILE IT IS STILL PLUGGED IN, it will then start to drain at the normal rate. Essentially, I will plug it in before bed and it is at 20%, then when I wake up it will be at 80% (and the standby will be at like 4 hours) so essentially it seems like it fully charged to 100% and then gradually went down.

Well it might have only charged to 80%. When it gets charged near the 100% start to watch it, if it hits 100 and goes down you have an issue, if you dont than there isnt any issue

Thanks for the response Cameron! I've seen it a few times where it will charge up to something at least about 80%, then whatever "maximum" it hits, it will then start to drain normally even though the battery indicator shows it is currently charging.

It is possible that the replacement battery is also defective. Do you have access to a known-good battery that you could try in your phone, or conversely, put your replacement battery in a known-good phone?

I suspect that you may have a problem with your charging circuit on the logic board but the most obvious thing to try first is a known-good battery.

Unfortunately, I don't, but that is a great idea for troubleshooting. This might be a dumb question but is there a way to "reset" the charging software?
