How do I lubricate wheel bearings on my golf cart
How do I lubricate my golf cart wheel bearings?
Is this a good question?
@tconner369, Terry, Depending on make model and year some bearing are serviceable and some are what they called sealed bearings and they are not(if worn or dry, sealed bearings are replace by pressing out and pressing new bearing back in).
If serviceable type, Jack cart up safely, remove wheel, you will need to remove the hubs cap, have a clean rag, lay out the pieces in order of removal, then I think the cotter pin, castle nut, washer, front bearing and then possibly rear bearing seal carefully(if damaged replace),then backside of hub bearing, clean the axle stub and hub inner race's, check for wear,Clean the interior of wheel hub of old grease. You will want to clean the grease off bearings, any parts you removed, check them for wear also(degreaser solvent, rags and paint brush work for removing old grease). Repack bearings with bearing grease, install rear hub bearing and rear seal, along with generous amount of bearing grease in hub and a little on spindle until hub is back on then you can apply some more. Continue assembling front greased/packed bearing, etc., reverse order as came apart. Now tighten down castle nut till snug, then loosen and repeat this 4x to get bearing to seat well. From snug, back off castle nut again and to the nearest castle nut groove to cotter pin hole in spindle . Basically finger tight. See link below for pic's and more info. on the process of greasing serviceable cart wheel bearings. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.
