New replacement Battery does not charge.

Hello everyone,

I just bought a replacement battery for my iPhone 3GS. The battery has the APN: 616-0435 and the display shows that it is charging but this is not true. I inserted the old battery and it is charging. So the iPhone seems to be intact. Any suggestions what the problem could be?
