The mass airflow sensor is located in the air duct between the air cleaner and throttle body. You can clean it with throttlebody cleaner but make sure to blow it dry right away after making it wet otherwise the dirt remains on the sensor when it air drys . DONT TOUCH the element . clean with the liquid and air only. I find in most cases its best to replace it rather than clean it . Also are you sure its the MAF thats causing the issue . In Honda idle and acceleration problems can often be a result of airlock in the coolant system. You may also want to look for vaccum leaks or dirt in the throttlebody . Hope this helps

Just a little word of caution to Jim's good answer, No carb cleaner when cleaning MAF, use only MAF compatible cleaners.

@lpfaff1 The Carb cleaner is stronger but if you did note I mentioned not to let it dry but to use air to blow it off. as long as you get it off before it dries it doesn't harm it.

@jimfixer , Yes I did note in your answer, just not a good idea for inexperience to use anything but recommended MAF cleaner on the MAF and also noted how you told the OP not to touch the MAF wire/element, "excellent" as they are brittle/sensitive a lot of the time.

by

@lpfaff1 point made I'll edit and have you been reading the youngins on the forum or did you know what OP was before . I was educated the other night by @refectio as to what OP was

by

@jimfixer , I think it was after a couple months I started wondering about it kept thinking OP,OP,OP what the heck is OP , could not get it out of my head, then it came to me! NOW though I think I am using it correctly? OP does stand for Original Poster does it not? If not I have been confusing a lot of people. :-{}

This car does not have MAF sensor, it uses MAP instead. Need to remove that and clean air passage to it using carb cleaner. IAC valve tends to be a problem on these cars but it will cause erratic idle. At that age I would remove and clean throttle body whole intake manifold - will be great improvement. Takes few hours first time.
