replacing batterie iMac CRT

My specs about the question:

iMac CRT, Summer2000, Mem:192MB, Machine ID: 406, Processor: Power PC G3, Speed: 350MHz, Batterie part nr.: 922-4028

Question: I saw your advice replacing batterie for iMac G3 on page 8. When I opened the backslot the interior was not what you describe. I couldn't match the pictures you showed with the interior of my iMac. It is far more simple I believe. Are we talking about a newer model perhaps. ?

A couple of years ago I found the description of replacing the batterie in an article of mac.com/support but now I can't find it anymore.

Do you have pictures of my iMac?

Kind regards,

Hubert.

Hello Mayer,

Indeed I've got a new battery and fixed it.

After a couple of days the optical CD disc driver went faulty. All inserted CD's, even the orginal System discs were spitted out. First I tried a cleaning CD which was also not accepted. I went on MacUpgrades.co.uk site which had no spares for the optical drive. Even when I asked for an external one they said that the iMac was to old!!! I don't want to get rid of him because I need him for special work which he does fine for me.

What type of external drive do I have to order to fit in my machine? And are they still available?

Specs:

iMac CRT System: Mac OS 9.2.2.

Built in Mem: 192MB

Model Name: iMac M5521

Machine ID: 406

Processor: Power PC G3

Speed: 350MHz

Kind regards.

Hubert Steyns.

Here's the disassembly guide. You can see the battery location on page 7. Go on down for how to get to it. It's about a ten minute job. : http://www.scribd.com/doc/103447/iMac-G3...

Hello Mayer,

Thanks very much for your link to replace the batterie. I run the iMac next to my eMac 10.4.11 and would like to connect them in a later stadium for doing different jobs.

I like older machines and therefor I appreciate your help because Apple Help is not longer available.

Kind regards,

Hubert.

Your machine does not have a firewire port so target mode is out. Hopefully you are still running system 9. File sharing over OS9 is very easy and only requires an AppleTalk network. This can also probably be done over an ethernet network using a router.
