Why can't I charge my laptop, won't turn on!
Hi,
I've had my aspire for over 5 years, 2 and a half yrs ago, it could charge, got it repaired and worked, another 2.5 years later the same problem happens. The battery would not charge, wouldn't even turn on when on power. No idea what the problem is, need help urgently.
Regards,
Lemur
Is this a good question?

The following advice is based on your willingness to take apart your computer, and to deal safely with electricity. If you don't feel safe dealing with electricity, please don't mess with it.
Do you have a multimeter to check that the power supply is actually supplying power? That would be my first step. After checking that, I would probably check the battery to see if it is supplying the proper voltage which should be listed on the battery pack. I would also check the charging system parts to see if voltage was making it to the battery. You should be able to check the battery connections to the charging system while it is plugged in to verify the presence of voltage. Past that, you are going to have to do some troubleshooting that requires a fair amount of technical knowledge. You would need to start checking parts one by one for continuity or proper resistance values. At that point, it might be wise to consider the cost of having it professionally repaired vs. just replacing it entirely.

Geoff, it could also just be that the battery is shot and need replacing

Yes, consider taking out the battery and plugging in power and try turning on before dismantling the whole thing first.
