LCD not lighting after screen replacement!

Hi,

I bought an iPod touch from eBay without a screen. I separately bought a screen for it and installed it according to professional instructions. I tried to power it up, but no apple logo showed. About 2 min later I pressed the home button and to my surprise siri worked. With a flashlight I noticed the display was working (very dim light) and I could open apps, slide to unlock, etc. However, the display is completely black. I assumed the lcd might not be connected, but even after connecting and reconnecting cables the backlight still doesn't work.

My question is whether this is a screen issue or an iPod hardware issue. The screen and iPod connectors both look perfect in condition.

Any help appreciated!!

Thanks

Why was this iPod for sale on eBay?

I think you got scammed here...what you explain is a classic backlight circuit problem (logic board). It could be as simple as a defective filter or it could be the entire circuit. The problem with the iPod Touch series is that there are no schematics in the wild, at least none that I have ever found. That means it gets harder to troubleshoot because we can't give you any directions. Of course it could also be a defective replacement screen. You have too many variables here; you need to have some known-good parts in order to troubleshoot.

If the seller never mentioned this problem, and by coincidence he sells it without a screen, I would seek a refund.

When you have purchase ipod touch it was without screen so it is difficult to say that ipod touch dont have any display issue.

Secondly you brought what model screen does screen is compatible with ipod touch or it is different model screen.

screen and iPod connectors both both are working fine so it seems to be ipod touch display problem. though here is how to replace ipod screen .
