shows plain blue screen

looks like is on and shows plain blue screen . can not turn it off either .

Wow , not have had this happen before. SO it is all blue with no other response? I suppose you can not do a reset because you can not see anything? 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) 2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. My first step to this would be to disassemble the ipod iPod 5th Ge... and to check the ribbon cable coming from the display to the logic board. Make sure it is connected and that the little clip that holds the cable in the connector is closed and makes good contact. If that is okay, I would replace the screen first since that is the cheaper option, but ultimately my gut feeling is that the video processor on the logic board is not working. You might be looking at a new one of those. They are available and really not a bad price for around $50...good luck and let us know
