Wne you say it wont open do you mean your cant open the lid?

by

Are you saying that your lid doesn't open? Is there a latch you have slide to open it?

by

George, i looked and there is no latch. Not sure how this can occur unless this person is really weak or doesnt know how a laptop works

by

Kensington lock slot may also prevent screen from opening.

AI iona, I don't know exactly what the issue is, but try holding down the power button until it does something.

@ymkocv, are you under warranty? If so, contact Lenovo. If you aren't, could you please better explain your problem?

@ymkocv not sure if you physically cannot open your laptop or if it is hang up. If it is a physical issue. Download the service manual from here. If it is hang up and does not start or gets "stuck" while loading, it is possible that your laptop does not recognize the OS on the HDD. You may want to check this by trying to boot from a bootable USB stick or optical disk. check to see if you can access your BIOS by one of two ways:

1- Press on FN+F2 once you turn the machine on

2- Or with the machine off, press on the Novo Button on your left side of the machine then you will find a list of options , just press enter on Bios setting

See if the BIOS recognizes your HDD.

Update (04/02/2017)

Sounds like an issue with a binding hinge. Check to make sure that the hinges looks straight and are not cracked. You may need to try to wiggle it. Worst case scenario will be some brute force and be ready to replace whatever breaks. There is really no other way to open it.

this happened to me when physically opening my thinkpad only to realize that i was opening it from the other side. i nearly destroyed the laptop because i was opening it from the back instead of the front.

@ymkocv , Aliona, Not being smart, but you are trying to open it up from the right end and not the hinged end. I believe the Lenovo logo will be up side down to you when facing the front. If you are trying it from the correct end then perhaps the hinge is seized. With a hair dryer/heat gun heat up the hinge area until hot( do not melt the plastic) direct the heat up from the bottom in hinge area, then give the lid a good tug to open the lid. If still no luck you may have to disassemble the laptop and check the hinge and lightly lube it with penetrate oil(link below service manual for disassembly). Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.
