STILL Won't charge, logic board + new battery, new MagSafe...

Hi guys

Really stuck here, my mac wouldn't charge after changing pretty much everything on it.

  • Started with a new battery, no joy
  • Moved onto a different charger no joy
  • New MagSafe DC in port, no joy
  • Just replaced the entire logic board, no joy

Occasionally I'll get a green light, it will stay on green other times and wont charge. Other times it will charge rarely go orange and get up to 10% battery charge. Nearly all the time it won't charge.

Computer works fine it self so I'm lost

I'm stuck on what to do. Any ideas on other parts it could be?

The only thing I can think of is the SMC is corrupted in some way but the chip I believe is built into each logic board? So if I replaced it and it still didn't work it's not the problem but I can't see what else it could be

Options

The parts you have replaced already are the only parts responsible for charging the battery. I assume you are using an 85W original Apple charger (from Apple.com, not Amazon, etc, since this will guarantee it is original)?

I would recommend disconnecting everything except the bare minimum, and seeing if the charger lights up consistently (disconnect keyboard, trackpad, I/O, etc). If not, try removing the logic board and plugging the charger in, in case something is shorting when it is inside the palmrest assembly.

If you are still having issues, one of the parts you received is most likely faulty, you just have to find out which one. Probably best to take it to someone who has the testing parts available, so it will be easier/cheaper to find out.
