Display goes in to sleep after a second

Hey

My display turns on displays for about 1-2 seconds then goes into sleep (power save) mode after turning it off with the power button, and then on the situation repeats.

I already dissembled the unit and cant see any obvious mechanical damage.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

Have you tried connecting it to another computer or even as an external monitor on a laptop to see what happens?

I'm wondering if your computer is the problem and is sending the wrong signal to the monitor.

What OS is installed in your computer?

I have tested my computer with another monitor it works.

So the fault must be in the broken monitor.

Hi,

As you didn't say if it was working OK before or not using the same setup, I meant for you to test the monitor with another computer. Unless the two monitors are the same you have not eliminated the possibility of a compatibility issue of some kind between the computer and monitor (power saving signal sent from computer to monitor for example)

Can you get the monitor's menu screens to show?

Do you get a 'no signal' display when you disconnect the video cable from the computer?

Have you tried the other input type?

You haven't said what you have tried apart from opening it up.

Sir, this is a Dell ultrasharp. Ultrasharps have 3 year warranties, so I would check if your covered. Also, are you using DVI-I or VGA? A DVI-I cable has a gap between two sets of nine pins. Check and make sure that your has DVI-D as that is better. It doesn't have the gap between pins. I suspect an HDCP issue.

I seriously need to learn to include more details sorry about that.

The monitor worked fine its actually about 4 years old, it just one day stopped working.

I cant get the menus after turning the monitor on it just displays for 1-2 seconds and then goes into power save mode.

With the signal cable unhooked its the same thing 1-2 secs and then it goes into power save mode.

I have used the same input on the other monitor i works, the connector is not damaged since it was rarely unplugged.

Other things that i tried where other inputs, checked the connectors both external and internal for corrosion.

And lastly i'm using display port.

I hope i included everything this time.
