iPhone 5 home button doesn't work no matter what screen I use

Hello everyone I got an iPhone 5 in a bulk lot of iPhones I got on eBay I was sorting the lot put a new battery in the 5 and ordered a screen it came and the home button didn't work I thought ok bad screen so I ordered another one and that one home button didn't work then I tried 3 others I had same thing does anyone have any idea what the problem is? Never seen this before thx

Home button doesn't have any correlation with the screen apart from the fact that it lays on it. It could be simply a home button fault or there could be some damage on the charging dock. Before closing screen on the housing you could try to short the two metal pins on the dock and see if it responds, as if clicking the home button.

In case nothing happens you can try replacing the dock. If you see no reaction even this way, it's a logic board failure or in best case there might be a damage on the connector where the dock connects to the board.
