Sound on my phone is completely shut off with or without headphones

My sound on my phone is completely shut off with or without headphones, but it recently just came back on but it was only working in one ear. I decided to turn it off and back on again to see if that would fix the problem and now the sound is completely gone again. PLEASE somebody help me. I've had this problem for a while.
