That could be a cable just needing reseated. It could also be what cameron said and it could be needing a whole screen. If you can not open the computer up to check the cable then follow cameron steps. It could be that simple though just reseat the Display cable. Hope this helps.

How do I know if I can open it up? I am not a computer genius by any means...

@iceplow Ill handle this, this is more my tempo, if you dont mind.

Cameron telling someone that they need to get a new display when it could be a simple reseating of the cable is not the way to go about it. If you do work on these things for a living as I do then wouldn't that be part of your troubleshooting steps? I'm not trying to make you look bad thats not my intentions at all. The purpose for this sight was to give people good advice thats what I'm trying to do when I tell Maryetatar to try that first.

As for answering you Maryetater you would look on the bottom of the computer it should have a type of screw holding the Bottom of the computer to the rest of the computer if those are cross tipped screws then it would be easy for you to take apart and check that cable. When doing it you would need to flip the lever then pull straight out and then do that in reverse make sure the lever is fully down after plugging it back in.

@iceplow Sorry. I agree with you there, when i made my answer that would be my first step. Im just trying to get all the details as @mayer constantly is telling me to so i can help get all the right info.
