How to replace Isight/wifi antenna cable?

Yo yo,

Wifi is extremely slow on my A1369 MacBook air. Found out that the isight cable is damaged when i had the display assembly replaced (should this have fixed the problem as the new assembly would come with a new cable?? did i get scammed?) is it possible to fix this without replacing the screen? i can't seem to find any guides for an A1369 online.

Thanks

Firstly, if you swapped the whole assembly, the iSight cable and WiFi cable are part of these so they should not have been damaged. With the WiFi being slow too, if the range is bad this is an issue with the WiFi antenna.

To replace these without swapping the whole lid, you will need to heat and remove the silver bezel first, without damaging the screen. A flat tool like a painting knife is good here. Then, you can remove the assembly from the MacBook and swap the iSight and WiFi cables.

So i guess i got ripped off then. The guy that repaired it said he was replacing the display assembly. The wifi wasnt working before and still doesnt.

It depends on the WiFi issue. Low range is definitely an issue with the antenna. No WiFi at all is a board/card issue. Slowness could be a range issue or something else

i have wifi, it connects and everything and will load webpages fairly fast, but if i do a speed test its like 1mb/s compared to my usual 5 (I'm from australia, our internet is a joke). Ive been using a USB wifi adapter ever since which is ok but it takes up 1/2 of my USB ports all the time.

Most likely an antenna issue then, hope my answer helps, but I would recommend trying to take it back to the repairer under warranty, clearly something wrong with the range.

yes, thanks for your responses. The problem is i took it to a third party (asian repair shop). Ive contacted them and they've just stopped replying so there is no warranty.

looks like i may have to attempt the repair myself if i can ever be bothered.

Thanks again
