Hi @momalisa ,

Did you mean to say that you cannot find the leak as you say "....I can find where it's leaking".... ?

If you cannot find where it is leaking from:

Are there coolant 'stains' (what colour is the coolant in your system, red, green etc?) noticeable anywhere around the radiator hoses (splits in hoses also near hose clamps), radiator cap (faulty cap spring or rubber seal), engine block etc?

Is there white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe when the engine is running?

Have you had the radiator pressure tested for holes in the radiator core or splits in the tank seams?

by

@momalisa, radiator fluid should leave some pretty distinct stains like jayeff states. Unless you are actually using water?

Chosen Solution

@momalisa,Lisa , The most likely reason when not seeing evidence of leaking coolant on the ground or in the engine compartment is that the engine is leaking internally because of a failed gasket(head/intake) or a cracked engine block/cylinder. this type of leak will also cause engine to over heat as it is adding air into the system not allowing coolant to circulate. Some times if you check your oil, you will see the oil level up on the dipstick or foaming on the oil fill cap and another sign can be whitish smoke/steam more then normal from the exhaust pipe. If you take it into a good local mechanics shop they can perform a coolant system leak down test and find the fault and estimate the repair. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

And that's why I have a 69' bug!

@pccheese , Cool, bugs are fun, had a 71 bug auto stick many moon's ago.

Wanna race? I've got dual weber carbs! I'll beat you to north Dakota! (Unless you use that charger you have as a profile picture)

by

@pccheese , if I did not like older chargers, I would have taken that as an insult. The car pictured is like my Chevy big block 67 Camaro.

Sorry, I'm not very good muscle cars. I like them, but I'm not around them alot. You see, my uncle and dad are interested in German cars, and my grandma and grandpa are interested in both. My Grampa used have 68' charger (non-hemi, but a friend tuned it to beat just about everything), and my grandma had 68' Camaro.
