My micro sim card just started not being recognized?

When I first installed the micro sim into the first sim slot number 1 it took a bit for the phone to recognize, and align the sim card. Now no matter how I enter the card, it is not reading it. I have a T-Mobile pay as you go plan, which was just filled yesterday. Has anyone else had this problem? Do I keep trying to align the micro sim card or just get a new sim, and lose the money I spent on the exisning?
