The iPod only powers on when plugged into a house charger?

The ipod will only power on when plugged into a outlet or house charger and as soon as you disconect it the ipod turns off immadiately. It will not power on when plugged into a computer it just flickers in a light gray screen. I bought the ipod broken and i was told it needed a battery because its not getting enough juice. It has water damage but works fine when plugged into a house charger. Would instaling a new battery in the ipod make the ipod work work again?

The logic board is most likely not detecting power. So replace the logic board. But,you might want to replace the battery first.

Agree with hello. I'd start the cheapest way first. Replace the battery. Then check to make sure that the battery gets charged. It may have a problem with the charging circuit. Should that be the case you are looking toward a new logic board. The reason it works on the wall charger and not on the USB port is most like because the wall charger gives a higher load and thus powers up the iPod. If you had water damage on the iPod make sure that all connections are made and that you do not have any corrosion on the board....good Luck.
