Water damage / power button half unresponsive

Hi guys.

Someone gave me an iphone 6s with a bit of water damaged in it.

When i got the phone , the power button was fully unresponsive.

After i cleaned it a bit with proper alcohol and changed the power flex cable is start to work but not properly.

Sometimes after the first press on the button the unlocking pop up but with a bit of delay.

Sometimes a have to spam the button and after that it goes with delay locking/unlocking...

And sometimes if i press it to unlock it it goes to Slide to power off...

What do you reckon?

Do i have any chance to fix it?

Any ideas?

@cofetaru just to clarify, you removed all the EMI shields off the board before you cleaned it?

by

No, i did not. I left it like that with shields. I cleaned the other areas.

When i m going home i will take them shields off and clean it

by

I'm too scared to remove the shields . Cos maybe is too hot and i can damage something and i can't take it easily ...

i think i will just sell it like that

Because if i will damage something i can't even sell it

Did you clean the logic board too? Clean that and check for corrosion on anything else too. Might have hit something on the logic board. If it is still happening check it under a microscope for any damaged components on the board, especially near the connectors.

Yes. I checked .

I removed the motherboard and i cleaned it with a toothbrush + alcohol. No results.

I left it for 10-15 mins again in alcohol i will give it a try again now.

Should i open the safe panels and clean them with the toothbrush aswell.

The thing is they are soldered...

Yes, if you are very, very, very careful you can actually remove then with a flathead screwdriver. I do it all the time because I don't like to use hot air to remove them.

by

Never pry down on the chip inside then though.

by

And after that if i still have no success , is nothing i can do about it right?

I should get rid of it..

Do you think is has been short circuited and power button has been afected ?
