How to open battery charger

I have an LC-E6 Cattery charger, which is used for many Canon camera models (including 5D Mark III/IV, 60D, 70D, 6D and 7D ). The unit is functioning but the inside of the charger has some type of loose plastic or metal that is rattling around. I tried to open the charger to remove the offending junk. I got through the Torx screw located near the Edison charging prongs, but I am at a loss for how to open the unit from here. It doesn't seem to want to pull apart. I have tried shimming it open with a small flathead screwdriver, and it will open a couple millimeters but no more, no matter how hard I try. There does not seem to be glue but rather some mechanism or latch inside preventing it from opening further. Can anyone advise?

Much appreciated.

Hi. I got the same charger and wanted to convert it to a figure of 8 connector so I also wanted to open it.

You were on the right track removing the torx screw. Next, get hold of about old credit card and run it along the seam of the case trying to get it wedged in between the 2 halves. There are clips holding the 2 halves together BUT there is also glue that is spot applied in what seems to be random places.

Once it starts to pop open use a broad flat blade screwdriver as a spacer to help keep the covers apart as you go.

Hope this helped!
