Has the drive ever worked with any of your XP systems?

by

No I tried 4 other xp home computers , none of them will connect, I can see the disk in disk management but can not do anything with it.

Have you installed the SES drivers?

by

YES success! I downloaded the WD Drive Utilities for Windows

and followed the install and now it assigns a drive number and connects.

I did this on 2 XP machines with success on both.

I really appreciate the help!

As per mine and @avanteguarde follow up comments, it would seem that it's a driver issue remember XP is old AF at this point and native driver support for new devices has stopped. You will need to manually download the drivers yourself from WD website.

Let me know if this fixes your issue.
