TV.LG50pg6900 - 50" no sound on hdmi but have picture.

I got this tv which wasn`t coming on so i bought a fresh psu cheap from ebay when i got it back

I fitted it the tv now stays on red light, then i found problem with ysus and buffers so i sent the ysus and buffers away for repair,Got them back and fitted them Then the tv worked so i proceeded to check out the ports,

The scart port works from my sky box both sound and picture on tv and also freeview channels all work both sound and picture on tv through the roof ariel. but when i checked the hdmi ports all 3 of them one at a time i only get picture and no sound using my sky tv box through hdmi cable.

Other problem was tv freezing up after about 3 minutes and because when checking through the menu the hardrive came up faulty i disconnected sata lead and the other feed lead from it,

result is tv does not freeze at all now .

So i can now watch the freeview with no problem but if i was to watch the sky channels through hdmi result is picture no sound.

Any help would be really appreciated, Thankyou in advance you guys,

Hi,

Just wondering if the HDMI works OK with other HDMI sources?

Noticed on the product specs that it says the TV has HDMI/HDCP ports. Have read that if there is HDMI non HDCP to HDMI HDCP there can be either video or audio problems. Is the Sky box HDCP? That's why I asked about another source. Just a thought.

i checked hdmi cable on laptop and on other tv all ok but will have to check on the box specs and get back to you soon thankyou

Just tried my laptop on the lg using hdmi and got no picture or sound ,mind the laptop is an old one . At this point i have to say i used 3 different hdmi cables on the 50"lg from sky tv box and still no sound .The model of sky box is DRX890 sorry but i can`t find the specs in it

Hi,

It is not in the cables so much as in the "Handshaking issues" between the two ends if one has HDCP and the other doesn't.

I only mentioned that it was a possibility, but since your laptop works HDMI to another TV (is this what you mean?) and not to the LG, can you run the Sky Box via HDMI to the other TV? If it works then it does point to HDCP as being a possibility, or it could just be a fault with the HDMI audio section in the LG, although the laptop having neither Video or audio working when connected to the LG to my mind favours the HDCP problem being the cause.

I 'googled the specs on the Sky box and it only mentions HDMI HD which relates to resolution rather then Data Encryption.

Here is a link that may be of some benefit. (again if it is the problem, I may be leading you astray with all this.) Perhaps you can contact Sky tech support and ask them about HDCP and "their" box.

Well we tried an android box on the tv and it worked with hdmi got both sound and picture so it must of been the handshake jayeff was advising on ,i feel he was right ,Thankyou all for the help
