iPhone 6 - dropped - Cannot Turn on!

Hello there,

The phone got damaged . It doesn't look really bad damage but there is a crack on the screen and after that the phone started acting weirdly such as opening and closing things. The home button touch stopped working. Then a few time after that we tried to connect it to the computer to do a backup but couldn't catch it, it completely turned off. Whenever we tried to plug it to a wall charger, it gets into a loop of (empty charge icon and apple logo, as if it's trying too boot but it cannot. ) The phone was on 75% battery the last time we saw it running. I tried to do Force restart (Hold the two buttons..) and it didn't work. We tried to plug it to a computer but it doesn't show anything, it doesn't even show the loop boot.

- Could that be a battery issue?

- How can I know if any button got damaged now?

Please help, I don't have experienve with fixing phones and it doesn't have warranty. Apple want's me to pay $300 to fix/replace.

Quite a few things could have happened. Try the following (assuming you want to open up your phone):

  • Open your phone using this guide (and always disconnect the battery first).
  • Measure the voltage of the battery with a multimeter. It should read between 3.8 - 4.2V. If you get close to 4.2V, then the phone should show a fairly high charge percentage.
  • Check to see if the battery and LCD/Screen connectors are properly connected. They may have become partially disconnected or damaged.
  • Inspect the surrounding area to see if there is any visible sign of damage or missing components.

You could always try a new battery but considering that an impact damaged your phone, I would be more concerned about partial disconnection or a logic board issue with the charging circuit. That circuit is also responsible for "talking" to iTunes and any accessories plugged into the device.

Logic board issues require micro-soldering so you would need to find a repair shop that specializes in that kind of repair.

Thanks for your answer! I would like to know my chances of getting back my data (No backup), assuming logic board or charging circuit needs to be replaced?

Repairing a charge circuit does not have any direct impact on data. Less experienced micro-solderers can apply too much heat which can have disastrous secondary effects. That said, there is always the possibility of data loss, even with the best techs. You can check out my profile and there are several other active micro-solderers on this forum.
