The volume is VERY quiet, and I just bought an iHome..

So I just bought a Ihome and started listening to music on it. My volume has always been loud until recently, I mean my iPhone was on my LAP and I could not here it. Could the iHome be the problem? Could I have hurt it and made the volume go out? I really would like to keep my iPhone! Thanks!
