Safety bypass HDD thermal Sensor

I bought a 2TB HDD to replace in my iMac, but I was unaware of the thermal sensor requirement and was wondering if theres just a way to short the sensor wire to have the fan on but not at full speed if i didn't short the wire.

It was only 100$ from bestbuy and I'd hate to try and take it back but from what I'm finding it looks like that's what I will have to do

Answer this question I have this problem too

You can short it, or let it go (my iMac has a SSD and fans run max) or get an optical temp sensor and use that instead.

Use FanSpeedControl to reduce the speed of the fans.
