Cinema Display powers up but doesn't show anything on screen

Saw this listing on eBay saying that the monitor powered up but didn't show anything on the screen. No clue if the seller just didn't plug it in to a computer or what but is this a common issue with an easy fix or is this happens the monitor is toast.

Also, do these not show anything on the screen if it isn't plugged into a computer?

Thanks to anyone who gives me useful info!

@cam2363 the LCD is usually not the first thing to go. I'd go with inverter, bad CCFL's way before I'd even think it's a bad LCD. Always check for signal and backlight first.

If they are doing everything right, then it is a bad LCD. But they probably have a bad cable or they didn't plug it in. If it is a bad LCD, then it is worthless.

I dunno about the worthless, I just saw the LG panel for the 24" inch Mac cinema display in Alibaba express for 130USD (dunno about delivery fees), therefore I would use an hour for searching the panel for these older models as well.
