Proximity Sensor heating up, not working, tried new assembly.

Hello, I changed the screen on this iPhone 6S, and it ended up needing a new front camera assembly which I didn't have at the time. The phone was used for several days with no sensor installed. Once I had them, I tried a couple of new camera assemblies, and the proximity sensor is the only thing that won't work. The phone screen will not go dark during a call. The front cam assembly also gets warm pretty quickly on the section of cable with the proximity and ambient light sensors when the lcd is powered on. I appreciate any help or ideas. I have fixed many phones and never had this issue before, and want to figure out a solution for the customer. The connector on the logic board does not look damaged to me. Thank you for any help in advance.

Update (03/03/2017)

I wanted to leave an update in case anyone has a similar issue. I worked on the phone again and tested with a cracked oem screen, and the sensor seems to work fine with that one. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work properly with the aftermarket screen, I did try the sharpie trick on the proximity area just in case but it did not help. I have used several of these particular aftermarket screens and haven't run into this issue with them before.

Answer this question I have this problem too

i had the exact same thing happen to me. It is the screen itself.

Its seems to be that the replacement screen lets too much light in compared to the oem screen, most likely due to the plastic surrounds around that area.

I replaced the screen again for a new after market screen and it worked perfect. has only happened once!

Yeah there are some bad aftermarket screens out there that don't let the proximity sensor work well or not even at all.

Once you find a good supplier, better stick to it for the time being.
