Bluetooth Card Connections to Logic Board on iMac 27" EMC 2429

Hello Everyone,

at last, my iMac Graphic Card gave in, and the iMac showed the way too famous vertical lines.

I decided to try and reballing it, and I think I succeeded, as I am using it since a few weeks now without any issues (I use it a lot full-screen and the Graphic Card seem to fine with it).

The only problem is that the Bluetooth has disappeared and I can't seem to get it back.

I opened the iMac once again to have a look around, but I am positive I never even touched the area near the Bluetooth Card.

What could I check? I think the problem might be on the Main Board, as the BT Card is still attached, everything is connected to it, and it also still have the plastic cover to protect it.

Does anyone knows where do this chip connect to the Main Board?

thank in advance!

Presumably you removed the logic board when taking the GPU out to reball or reflow it (fyi, reballing is the only true fix for the common GPU fault on this model. if you have just reflowed the GPU, or heated it up, then it will almost certainly re-occur)

If so, its probably a connection issue.

First, i'd check in the system profiler (system information in later OS versions) to see if the bluetooth card is being recognised. its typically on the USB bus.

If it is being seen as fitted, but is not connecting to devices, then its either an antenna problem, or a software issue.

If the card is not being seen as connected, then its either a hardware fault, or its not connected.

Check the connection of the cable that runs from the bluetooth board to the logic board. the sockets can be a bit fiddly. you also want to make sure its plugged in the right way, as it can be forced in upside down, but it will not function and will cause irreparable damage to the pins of the socket if done so.

I hope this helps
