I have a late 2008 Mac PowerBook 17" replace HD with SSD

I have a late 2008 Mac Powerbook 17"

TASKS:

1. HDD replace with SSD

2. Re Install Software

I want replace HD with SSD I see this power book G4 Hardrive replacement the closest to what I am doing. But also see a teardown of a model that more closely resembles mine. Which version do you suggest using BOTH?

MacBook Pro 17" Models A1151 A1212 A1229 and A1261 Lower Case Replacement

PowerBook G4 Aluminum 17" 1.67 GHz (High-Res)

Or do you have my exact model repair manuals?

ALSO A BIG PART OF THIS IS RE INSTALLING OS X El Capitan ???

Thank You!!!!!

I hate to break your bubble here you really can't do what you want to do here.

First this system used an IBM/Apple PowerPC CPU, it can't run the newer Intel Core 2 Duo/I Series based OS's like El Capitan. You are limited to OS-X 10.5.8 Leopard as the highest.

But lets look at your drive options for this series: It uses a PATA (Ultra ATA/100) drive. The largest one I've found is a 128 GB KingSpec SSD.

Frankly I would recommend you get a Ethernet/WiFi NAS unit to hold your stuff Vs trying to upgrade the drive if space is your concern.

But to be truthful if you want newer apps you'll need to save your pennies to get a newer system (new or used)
