Fan control 2.5gHz i5

I downloaded smcFan control and when I set it it still won't go past 2,000 rpm is there a better app to maximize fan speed when the computer gets over 70 degrees C

How about getting a better app to monitor and if needed up the fans speed when the heat starts to ramp up (turbo mode). This is what we use: TG Pro its by far much better than smcFan Control.

Unlike it you won't kill your system. I've replaced many a fan or had to tell someone their logic board was toast do to using it.

If you think you need to push the fan higher than 2k you have other problems! You could have a bad HS SATA cable (a very common issue) or a bad heat pipe or lastly you are pushing the system beyond what it was intended to run from an Apps perspective. These systems are not designed as a heavy gamer system.

Things I would do is do a though cleaning of the internals of dust build up (focusing on the fan & heat sink fins). You may want to clean & re-apply a good quality thermal paste on the CPU.

Is the fan making a noise or not working right? Might need to be replaced, are you sure it's the real smcfancontrol?
