How to avoid installing Windows 10 Anniversary Update that is waiting

I know it is critical to install updates on my Toshiba C55 laptop with factory installed Windows 10 x64. I placed my WiFi on "metered" to prevent the Anniversary Update version 1607, etc from. installing automatically. My Bitdefender security scan and Windows Update tells me "version 1607 update" and 2 more 1607 update items needs me to click "install". And another update is pending. Help. What should I do to avoid a mess? Can I entirely avoid the Anniversary Update, if possible? I haven't found an expert's advise on what are the latest ways to avoid the reported failures of the Anniversary Update (isn't the Anniversary now named version 1607?).

Unfortunately, unless you forgo all updates from now on, there is no way to avoid 1607. What failure in 1607 is preventing you from wanting to update? There is yet another update like this coming in April.

If data limits is the issue, you can download the latest version of Windows 10 via USB stick, using their utility at another location.

You may need to change your region at the bottom of the page.
