Maybe I wasn't clear: after replacing lcd display of the iphone 6, I did not damage the cables, the home button works, it's the recognition of fingerprint which doesn't work"

These could be the reason why your touch id stopped working:

-Loose connection

-Damaged home button long flex

-Damaged home button

-Damaged pins on the motherboard for home button

Try to unplug home button from the motherboard and the long flex and plug it back in if that doesn't work you might have to replace the long flex and if that doesn't work it could be a board related issue.

Was the replacement screen a pre-assembled one where it has the front camera, earpiece speaker and home button extension cable on back metal plate already pre-installed?

If this is the case try the home button extension cable metal plate from the old screen.

Otherwise consider getting a replacement home button extension cable as that may have gone bad. If touch ID still does not work after that then I'm afraid the home button cable somehow got damaged.

No you were super clear. You never know when replacing the home button cable may fix it even if it isn't visually damaged.
