Over a period of time my LG TV has stopped working. It turns on but there is no longer a picture or sound. I've read that it could be burned out capacitors. Any suggestions?

Hi,
What is the model number of the TV?
Disconnect the power from the TV and remove the back cover.
Initially visually inspect the power board (usually the one where the power connections come in to) for domed, blown or leaky capacitors. Also check if there are any other obviously burnt out or heat stressed components on the power board or any other board for that matter.
If there are some components that you are uncertain of, take some close up pictures of the component in question and post them back here. Hopefully someone will be able to help.
