@earl4477 this is very difficult and not uncommon. Remember that there are no 100% repairs when it comes to water damage. You may have shorted out the IC, other other component as well as the traces. It will also depend on who and how it was cleaned. Water damage is the hardest to diagnose and the toughest to repair since virtually any part may have failed. Being unsure of when you got this done and how old the water damage is, I would suggest that you try to contact professionals like @refectio about this and see what he comes up with.

If you want to try things yourself, then this is what I would suggest:

  • Open your phone and remove the logic board
  • Inspect the logic board, especially around the connectors and look for corrosion.
  • Inspect both sides of the board. Unfortunately, 80% of the board is covered in shields. That's usually where the damage is occurring.
  • Put your board in a container with >90% isopropyl alcohol and let it sit for a while.
  • Use a soft brush, like a toothbrush and lightly brush away any corrosion you see.
  • Rinse in alcohol and repeat.
  • Let it air dry for a day.
  • Re-assemble and hope for the best.

However, as @oldturkey03 says, water damaged devices are not all recoverable depending on how extensive the damage is. A professional repair shop that does water damage repair may be able to recover your phone or the data because they have access to pro-level ultrasonic baths and specialized cleaners as well as the skills to troubleshoot your board.

Rebooting: rule out bad battery and corrupted firmware.

Before putting into the alcohol what all do I remove other than the battery? And does the Tapic engine stay or go?

by

@queenhenny just the logic board goes in the IPA.
