Is my LCD broken or just the glass panel?

Hi guys!

When trying to exchange my screen backpanel I cracked the front glass panel.

The screen still works fine but there are dark and bright spots on the bottom of it! (See photo)

Should I replace only the glass panel now or the LCD screen as well?

Everything works now! I made sure the LCD cable sat tightly but left the security hanger loose. Works perfectly now. Thanks for the answer guys

Does it actually boot and show the Apple logo? If not, you have a bigger issue.

Make sure both sides of the LCD cable are plugged in properly. Also make sure the cable is not chipped, or any grey plastic around the connector is missing. Usually this happens when the cable isn't making a proper connection, so it isn't lighting all LEDs for the backlight.

If there is no issue with the cable, I would try a test LCD. If it is still not working, it will either be a problem with the LCD connector, or one of the LED return resistors on the logic board.

The MacBook works just fine! It boots and runs normally. Ok I will open it up and take a look at the LCD cable

I opened it up, made sure the LCD cable sat tightly but now when I boot, I only hear the boot sound and the screen is entirely black! Is the cable maybe?

Probably. Either the cable or LCD connector most likely.

You have just removed the backlight from his original position, what you see in the buttom of the screen is the leds that belongs to backlight. I suppose a professional can fix this issue
