Why does my car make a screeching sound when I turn?

Marlette , If the screeching noise is coming from under the hood/front of car, it is probably the power steering belt slipping. As a first step check the power steering fluid level, if low top up. If fluid seams fine the belt may need adjustment(if able) or could be worn/glazed needing replacement or the tensioner/idler pulley could be defective. If all looks good there, the power steering pump may be faulty and require replacement. See links below for more info. Good luck.
