Laptop won't start keeps loading

My Asus laptop will not startup properly. Once turned on the Asus logo comes up and it starts loading goes to the next 'screen' blank black screen just has loading symbol constantly like its trying to do something. I can move mouse etc. I've tried Diaganosing startup through f9 key and system restore to previous date which has failed. Anything else I can try? Is it completely gone?
