Chosen Solution

1) Go to Device Manager to see if the USB hub on your computer is disabled or there is an exclamation point.

2) The drivers are here:

https://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/...

You are looking for the Intel Chipset drivers.

However if this doesn't resolve your issue, the laptop likely has a hardware fault.

In device manager it says I need the drivers for Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller and SM Bus controller

Install the Intel Chipset driver first, under chipset. Then install the 3 Intel drivers under "Other". Did you reformat your computer recently? If you did, you should probably install all the drivers on that link I provided. It is very unusual that you are missing these drivers.

Yeah I thought so too, and yes I just took Win10 off and installed 7 again. I have to leave right now, but when I get back I will try to put it on a disc because I can't use a flash drive. I hope you are still on, if not I will try again tomorrow. Thanks for the help!!

SW are you still on? I have downloaded the chipset, but I also need drivers for the Ethernet Controller, the Network Controller, PCI Data Acquisition and signal processing controller (x2), PCI simple communications controller, SM Bus controller, Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller and 2x unknown devices. Can you tell me which one of those on the ASUS website I need for all of that? Also, were you talking about the Win8 drivers, I tried Win10 drivers for 7, but they didn't work

@woods69 did the computer come with Windows 7 or 10?

Windows 8.1 and 10 use the same driver set. If the computer came with Windows 8.1 or 10, normally Asus will not supply them for Windows 7.

You would need to download and install ALL the drivers from

https://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/...

But if your Asus came preloaded with Windows 10, you're not going to be able to find support from Asus for this specific model for Windows 7. You will manually need to fish around for models they release with Windows 7 and hope some drivers work with your computer.

Is there a reason why you removed Windows 10? If it were the appearance of the menu and tiles, you can download http://www.classicshell.net/ after you put the computer back to Windows 10.
