Hi,

Use a digital camera (a mobile phone camera will do) to test that the volume buttons on the remote control are working properly.

Turn on the camera and the point the remote control at the camera. Looking at the remote through the camera's/phone's LCD screen, when you press the volume button(s) you should see a light flashing at the front end of the remote. Try other known working buttons on the remote to prove that you are doing it correctly. If the volume button 'light' appears intermittent (it will seem to flash as it is sending codes) in comparison to other buttons most probably either the button contact is dirty or wearing out. This is not uncommon as the Power button and the volume buttons are the two most 'popular' buttons on a remote control unit.

Here is a link to a video which shows how to open a remote control and to clean the button contacts. How to open your remote may vary as to what is shown in the video. The cleaning principles will be the same.

If you find that after cleaning that it is no better, then perhaps the contact material has been worn off the underside of the button. You could try smearing some conductive glue on the button's contact face and see if that resolves it. (allow it to dry before re assembling the unit). I have had mixed results using this method. On some buttons it is still working OK on others it just peeled off after a few weeks.

If it doesn't work your choice then is to see if you can get either a cheap replacement compatible Vizio remote or a universal remote that supports your model TV.

It works fine on my other Vizio TVs

Hi @topramen44,

Is the remote suitable for that particular model Vizio (you didn't give the model number of the TV or the remote control)?

If it is the correct remote for the TV, do other functions on the remote work OK, e.g. menu options, channel selection etc, as this question is about TV Volume control using the remote.

With my TV, Cable or Roku remotes

I have the same thing. Worked well first 2 months I had the TV. Neither remote works well now for the volume, The Vizio or the spectrum remote, so it isn't the batteries or the remotes. I also stream from my phone and the volume won't work well with my phone either.

Hi I have/had about a 3-5 second delay with the volume controls both the remote and tv buttons they worked but took time to “wake up”. Had Vzio V series tv for 4 months started about 2 months ago. It started right after I messed around with streaming my phone to my tv have an iPhone uses home app well I am not a tech savvy guy so I didn’t complete all the steps of scanning QR code on the tv to the phone and gave up. I didn’t put 2and 2 together until today searching around for a fix. Glad I didn’t reset my tv couldn’t even seem how to figure out how to do that either. But I properly linked to phone app and immediately fixed my volume problems. Volume is back to normal works as soon as I hit the volume on the tv or remote. Hope this helps someone thx

Also take the batteries out of your remote and use tv volume controls to see if the remote is the cause of your problems
