Given UP 1/2 Ghost

My 6-year-old LG GN-422F

gets cold in the deep freezer part of it............. approx -15C (top) in the fridge compartment below about +15 C external temp is+30 C The compressor gets verry hot, seems to runn with no interuption.

I have checked many things, it turns out that the internal fan is getting no power. I can not rely follow the wires, They seem to go into the circuit board on top of the fridge external........ Any one knows how I can pinpoint the exact problem ? or possible have a alternative solution like hooking up the int fan on the power of the ext, fan next to the compressor ?? ( I also have noticed the compressor getting quite hot. Up on checking the (Relay ??) going into the compressor and dissembling it , I noticed that it has some round disc inside, I suspect a thermal thing it has 36 Oms between the 2 contacts, but it will not interrupt them electromechanical. Like relays would do. (The 3d contact is separate with some small device)

I would be happy for your answer thanks.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi

As there is no service manual available online the following is only a rough guide what to look for.

The evaporator fan (if that is the one you mean) is controlled by the control board. It stops when the doors are opened, when the temperature has been reached in both the fridge and freezer section (thermostat) and when the defrost cycle is operating. (once every 8-12 hours depending on manufacturer) since the freezer is cold but not the fridge then I don't think it is in the defrost cycle - would be if freezer was about 0 deg. C)

If the compressor is running all the time then the control board 'thinks' that the temperature has not been reached which given that the fan is not running will be true.

It could be the thermostats and in some freezers there is also a thermistor (don't know about yours as there isn't a very comprehensive parts list available online) that is giving incorrect info to the control board

It could be the door switch (if not obvious in the door frame it will be magnetic). Run a magnet around the frame especially along the top edge of where the doors meet the frame, or perhaps in between the two doors along the frame there, top of the freezer door, bottom of the fridge door if you get what I mean. There are probably two in a two door fridge. If the light goes out then that is the switch at least for the fridge section.

It could also be the control board itself.

Sorry to be so vague but hopefully it gives you some other ideas.

Thanks for your answer. (yes indeed it is the small fan inside the frezer , not the one near the compressor externally) I will tomorrow see if that gets me closer to a solution. Much appreciated indeed.

If anyone else has any other idea's please feel free, as I take anything in consideration, wich may get that thing up and going again.
