Replaced charging port, buttons don't work

I had a burnt out charging port, so I followed instructions online and replaced the daughter port, or charging port. When I put it all back together, the Back and Active Apps buttons don't work. Everything else is fine. I double checked all the connections, and everything is snuggly plugged.

The only thing I am afraid of... I accidentally peeled off the white paint with the silver back that covers that area. I don't care if those buttons are exposed, but does the white coating on the glass have something to do with the functionality of the buttons under it? If so, am I burnt?

The charging port as you know has the touch capacitive buttons for back and recent apps button / menu button which are between the home button key below the screen.

The paint decal chipping from the screen glass does not affect the functionality of the screen other than asthetics.

Either the flex cable connecting to the charging port for the buttons are cut, the screen is not held down well at the bottom to give contact to the buttons.

Or just a faulty charger port.

Yes, a G920.

Flex cables look alright, but I will take it all apart and put it all back together again to see if maybe I don't have a connection completely together.

Thank you for the info on the glass paint---that is a huge relief!
