Why it shut istselfdown after few seconds?

I have a Xbox 360 consule that my freind gave to me and I tested and it seems that it worked because it played a cd, but I just bought 2 wireless controles for it and they seem to work with it but after putting a game to play the power bottom it starred to blink red lights and it turns itself off and I dont know why does any body knows why after few seconds being on it will turn off?

The unit is suffering from the RROD, to fix this, get the RROD fix kit.
