Magsafe adapter doesn't light up, laptop doesn't power on.

I split a cup of coffee on my Macbook yesterday, I unplugged it, powered down and removed the battery straight away, gave it a quick wipedown and let it sit screen open keyboard down.

leaving it for a couple of hours, I removed the topcase with the guide on here to ensure that liquid didn't get through to the logic board, all looked ok, I reassembled it and let it sit over night.

I power it up this morning and the power button and trackpad work but all the other keys are dead, thinking that I may not have sat connect from the topcase to the logic board correctly I take it apart again and re sit the cable, reassemble and now it wont power on at all.

  • I have power in the battery
  • used the mag safe adapter in other power points

but no green light on the magsafe connect and laptop won't power on.

I am thinking that I will need a new topcase and a new logic board, but I am hoping to exhaust other avenues first.

Answer this question I have this problem too

you will probably defiantly need to replace the top case and as far as the power problem you can try just replacing the magsafe board...but more importantly i would go back over every thing and make sure that everything is plugged into the logic board. I hope this helped.

Good Luck,

Cody

+ good answer and since the top case will be removed Anthony could check if there's liquid in the ram slots and unsnap all connectors to make sure there no liquid inside the sockets. Logic board should be cleaned specially if there was sugar in the coffee
