Ipad battery replacement result in touch screen no longer working

Recently completed Ipad A1416 battery replacement.

When charging unable to slide to unlock. Tried to reboot pressing home and on off at the same time as done previously many times before. This time the message - "Siri not available Connect to the internet"instead of rebooting.

I also tried "Power + Volume Down + Home" as suggested but this did not work either

Currently is the power button allowing the phone to turn the screen off and on while it is on?

If not then the smart cover sensor has become damaged. I think this part is on the home button cable.

Usually a teared home button cable or a replacement home button cable with the components for the smart cover sensor is not there cause this problem.

Does the home button respond at all as well?

I'm not 100% sure if the iPad 3 uses a home button that connects to the logic board via a long ribbon cable.
