Trackpad has a click, almost as if it is loose.

I've been noticing that (mostly) the left side of my trackpad makes an audible click... This is very noticeable while using tap-to-click (as I don't need to actually click the trackpad the full way).

Are there any adjustments that can be made to the trackpad to eliminate this clicking? If I lift the left-front of the MacBook, the clicking stops.

Thanks.

Disloding small particles of dust/dirt along the sides of the trackpad seems to have done the trick.

For now, anyway...

Yes i tried this and had some success. You can push the pad down and then brush debris out with the edge of some good quality paper. Sounds like stripping it down is not practical.

There is a torx T6 screw that adjusts the gap between the bottom of the trackpad and the upper case, which can be adjusted by disassembling the computer, and screwing it in will eliminate any play or looseness of the trackpad. However, I think that this screw is hidden under the battery, which is glued in with very strong adhesive (thanks Apple), so this adjustment is not worth the time or effort if that's the case.

Yeah, figures it wouldn't be all that accessible. Although, if the battery started to rattle, I'd be just as upset.

I ended up finding a post (on another site) that suggested there may be small particles of dust/dirt surrounding the trackpad. I found a small (but sturdy) piece of plastic to run along the sides in order to dislodge any dirt that may be there. Low and behold, there was a bunch that came out. So far, so good. The trackpad has definitely stopped making that irritating "clicking" sound.

I'll keep an eye on things, but I think I'm all set for now.
