Phone only charges when charger pushed in

Hi,

My phone is only charging when the charger is pushed in with some force. The charger fits fine, it doesn't fall out, but the phone only charges when I push it in as far as I can. When I release, the phone stops charging.

This makes me think that the charging port has been pushed into the body somehow?

How do I fix this?

I have attached images so people can understand this model better.

Hi,

If the USB port has been pushed in then you would think that it would've become disconnected from the systemboard (as they are only soldered on - surface mounted) and would not work either for charging or connecting.

Try visually checking the USB port. Use a strong light and a magnifying glass to see if there is any lint or dust trapped there and that all the pins are there and that they are straight and parallel with each other and are all the same length.

If there is trapped dust or lint, do not use a probe to remove the debris, as you may damage the pin connectors, use a vacuum cleaner and see if it will suck it out. If it doesn't then at least gently use a wooden toothpick.

Thank you! I'll try that. Unfortunately I had already used a small toothpick to try to clean it out so that might have damaged it I suppose.
