Are there any upgrade paths to this aside from RAM?

I'm wondering if I can put an M.2 SSD here in my Laptop and/or replace the optical drive with an SSD since I can't live with less (but fast) storage.

Hi,

A really quick way is to 'permanently' insert into the card reader the largest capacity SD/SDHC/SDXC Card that you can afford. Designate it is the "storage" drive.

The pros:

It means that the DVD drive can be retained. (instead of replacing it with a caddy to hold a HDD while an SSD becomes the new primary drive.

It will free up the HDD for programs only.

The SD Card is as quick as a SSD.

You will have security as you can 'remove' it at any time to safeguard your data. (Also makes it easy to copy your data, just plug into another laptop's card reader, although this may be considered a minus not a plus)

It is unobtrusive. (can be left in unnoticed, does not stick out from the laptop and catch anything etc)

The cons:

Downside is if you wish to use the card reader for any other reason sometimes.
